A crown is a type of dental ‘restoration’ which completely covers a tooth or placed on to a dental implant.
Crowns are custom made for each patient. They should be indistinguishable from the rest of your teeth.
They are usually made from a metal core, with a porcelain exterior that is the same colour as your other teeth.
Patients often need a crown after having a root canal treatment (tooth nerve treatment) or if they have had a very deep cavity.
Dental crowns are bonded to the tooth using a dental cement.
