Dental check-ups
A dental checkup and cleaning, is the most common dental appointment patients have.
It’s important for the Plaza Health dentist to assess your dental & oral health, this appointment is used to create a treatment plan for you.
At Plaza Health we recommend you have a dental check-up every 6 months, but some patients might require a dental check up more often.
White Fillings
Traditionally, cavities were repaired with silver fillings, and white fillings were only used on front teeth. This was because the white filling material in the past was not as strong as silver amalgam, and so could not withstand the heavier chewing forces generated by the molar teeth. Today white fillings are just as strong and look much better.
Root canal
A root canal is a treatment used to repair and save a tooth that is badly decayed or becomes infected. During a root canal procedure, the nerve and pulp are removed and the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed. Without treatment, the tissue surrounding the tooth will become infected and abscesses may form.
Crowns
Crowns encase a tooth that has been badly damaged or decayed and are cemented on to the surface of the teeth. Since dental crowns cover the entire visible aspect of a tooth, a dental crown in effect becomes the tooth’s new outer surface. Crowns can be made out of porcelain, zirconia (a very hard ceramic), metal (a gold or other metal alloy), or a combination of both.
